Haverford College invites applications for a part time sculpture technician in the Department of Fine Arts. The successful candidate will provide teaching support in the sculpture art studio two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), and will assist with two additional three-hour monitor sessions per week (day and time are flexible). Responsibilities include maintaining the studio and equipment, providing technical support and instruction to undergraduate students in basic fabrication processes such as welding, administering and implementing safety protocols, purchasing studio supplies, and maintaining supply inventories. Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and a strong working knowledge of sculpture processes including woodworking, metal fabrication, and casting. In-depth knowledge of shop safety procedures, use of equipment and tools, along with good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support the students, are essential qualifications.
The position is part-time for 22 hours per week, 16 weeks each semester, at a rate of $25/hour ($17,600 annually). The 22 hours include 16 hours of teaching support and six hours of student monitoring. Please submit electronically or by mail a cover letter, resume and the names of three references to:
