Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action
In keeping with Haverford College's long-standing policy of non-discrimination, the Board of Managers of Haverford College has established a program of affirmative action. The goal of this program is to attract and retain staff of high quality and diverse backgrounds and to do so without discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, veteran status, or other protected characteristic. In accordance with the Affirmative Action Policy, the College recruits persons in these protected categories as candidates for positions that become available at Haverford. The results of the hiring process are reviewed regularly by the Affirmative Action Officer to make certain these goals are being met.

The six Deans, who also hold the title Associate Dean of the College, have distinctive portfolios but share general duties that include the interpretation of college academic and social regulations, crisis intervention, problem-solving, policy development and implementation, and referral of students to appropriate College resources. This position will complement the existing areas of responsibility held by the Dean’s Office staff: Academic Affairs, Student Life, Multicultural Affairs, International Academic Programs and First-Year Programs. A Master’s degree is required; a PhD or other terminal degree is highly desirable. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds will be considered, but five to seven years of experience in higher education, working directly with students and faculty, are anticipated. We are looking for a dynamic and engaging leader with the ability to facilitate dialogue and forge alliances across constituencies, and who has a demonstrated commitment to student development as well as an intellectual interest in the intersection of higher education with its larger social and cultural context.
