Description
Haverford College is looking for a Programmer Analyst with skills to design, develop, analyze and perform various tasks associated with systems and application programming. The person must be able to develop and manage tasks related to database management and provide support to the institutions custom developed applications. This full-time position will report to the Director of Core Technologies.
Additional Responsibilities
Together with other Core Technologies staff, maintain a robust, stable, and secure infrastructure for the college UNIX servers, SAN devices, VMWare and AD Servers. Perform systems administration, tuning, performance analysis, security, account management functions, and other maintenance tasks. Develop programs as needed to integrate, enhance, and administer the web infrastructures. Evaluate new and existing software products. Train and assist advanced web publishers with new technology and tools. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field and a minimum of two years of experience in shell/programming languages and database or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Demonstrated experience building, extending, and maintaining open source software applications built on the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack. Sophisticated system administration skills including up-to-date knowledge of operating system and application security practices within Linux/UNIX. Familiar with the administration and configuration skills required for Tomcat, Apache and MySQL. Experience with a wide variety of programming languages, content management tools and authentication methods including Perl, PHP, Java, JavaScript, HTML, PyLint, Eclipse, LDAP, Shibboleth, WebAuth, Kerberos and Radius. Must be a self-motivated individual with a demonstrated history of successful participation in large scale system implementation. Must possess strong written and oral communications skills and be able to effectively work in a diverse team in a highly collaborative environment. Must be able to work well under conditions of stress and, when necessary, be available to work extended hours and occasional weekends.
