INVESTMENT ANALYST
Haverford College
Haverford College is currently seeking an Investment Analyst, reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Director of Investments within the Investment Office. The primary responsibility of the Investment Analyst is to provide analytical and due diligence support for the management of the College’s endowment. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual to expand their knowledge and responsibilities as the position and the Investment Office evolve over time.
Primary Responsibilities and Functions:
- Working with the Director of Investments, supports the activities of the Investment Office and Investment Committee across all aspects of the investment process.
- Manages and maintains the reporting function of the Investment Office, including preparation of supporting materials for Investment Committee meetings and ongoing oversight of the endowment, including performance reports, risk analysis, investment updates and additional documentation.
- Contributes to monitoring of existing investments and external investment managers, including attendance at annual meetings.
- Participates in investment manager due diligence across a variety of asset classes, including traditional and alternative strategies.
- Maintains and contributes to the design of the Investment Office website, including posting internal portfolio reports, investment manager information, communications, articles and other relevant content.
- Supports special projects related to the endowment or general finances of the College, and assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
Primary Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of investment experience, preferably in the evaluation of investment strategies and investment managers, both traditional and alternative.
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in finance, economics or related field; progress toward advanced degree, CFA and/or CAIA preferred. In depth knowledge of financial and investment theory.
- Strong analytical ability and computer literacy with Microsoft Excel and experience with investment performance and research software.
- Excellent analytical and communications skills are essential.
- Ability to interact and gain credibility with College senior staff, Board of Managers, and external investment managers; must be able to work independently, while also adapting to an evolving and shared decision-making work environment.
- Enthusiasm for liberal arts education and an ability to assume diverse responsibilities in a small college environment.
- Ability to travel, up to 10% - 20% over time.
