Room Assignments: First Year
First-year students are assigned housing in one of three residence halls - Barclay Hall, Gummere Hall and Haverford College Apartments (HCA). First-year rooms are assigned during the summer and housing assignments emailed to first-year students in mid- to late July.

Barclay Hall

Gummere Hall
Barclay Hall is a coed residence hall that houses first-year students in doubles or in singles with the majority arranged in three-person suites.
Gummere Hall is a coed residence hall that houses first-year students in singles with the majority arranged in four-person suites that open onto a main corridor.
Housing for first-year students in Barclay and Gummere are single-sexed by individual room or suite and coed by floor. The College provides each Barclay & Gummere student resident with a bed*, desk, desk lamp, chair, small bookshelf, dresser and a closet or wardrobe. Students are responsible for providing their own bedding (sheets*, mattress covers, blankets, bedspreads), pillow, blankets, towels, wastebasket, clothes hangers and telephone. A flashlight is also a good idea for the rare case of a power outage.
*PLEASE NOTE: mattresses are extra long 36" x 80" x 6".

HCA
Haverford College Apartments (HCA) is made up of 21 garden-style, two story apartments located at the south end of Haverford's campus. Each building has eight apartments, three two bedroom apartments and one one bedroom apartment on each floor. Each apartment has a bathroom, a living/dining area, closets, and a full kitchen (equipped with a stove and refrigerator).
There are seven designated First-Year buildings. First-Year students are housed in doubles in two-bedroom apartments that are single-sex by individual apartment and coed by floor. All first-year students are required to be on the full meal plan for the entire year.
Apartment Furnishings
The College provides each student with a bed, desk, desk lamp, chair, small bookshelf, and a dresser. All windows have shades. The living room is furnished with seating for three or four, a coffee table and a lamp. In the kitchen, there is a full-sized refrigerator with a freezer section, a stove, a sink with a garbage disposal, and storage cabinets. Toilet paper is provided and vacuum cleaners are available for use. Students are responsible for providing their own bedding (sheets*, mattress covers, blankets, bedspreads), pillow, blankets, towels, wastebasket, clothes hangers and telephone. In addition, students are responsible for providing their own dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. A flashlight is also a good idea for the rare case of a power outage.
