APPLICATION PROCESS after May 2, 2008
Application forms are available at the HCA Office.

For Haverford students

STEP 1:
Fill out and submit a hardcopy application. Applications (hardcopy) are available at the HCA Office, only. Everyone applying to live at HCA this summer must complete the online application. Haverford students may sign up now, even if you will be living with Bryn Mawr students.

STEP 2:
If you currently live in HCA and plan to rent during the summer you must remain in the same apartment. On April 7th no later then April 11th you should go the HCA management office to register your intent to stay for the summer. The HCA office will contact you when your lease is ready to be signed. Please bring a blank check with you.

Beginning on April 14th everyone else should call the HCA mangement office at x1779 or at 610.642.5884 to make an appointment to choose your apartment. Appointments will begin on April 16th. You must submit your online application no later than 3:00 pm on the day BEFORE YOU CALL to make your appointment.

PLEASE NOTE: APARTMENTS WILL BE RENTED IN "AS IS" CONDITION, WHICH IS TO SAY THAT THE PROPERTY WILL BE RENTED IN ITS CURRENT PHYSICAL STATE AT THE TIME AT WHICH STUDENTS OCCUPYING THE APARTMENT DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR HAVE MOVED OUT.

STEP 3:
You will be contacted by the HCA management office to take care of all necessary paperwork for the summer. Please bring a blank check with you so that you can secure your summer apartment. The amount due will vary depending on when you will be moving into HCA, so please wait to find out the amount due.

The order in which students will choose an apartment is not based on class year, but on when you have an appointment with the HCA management office. Apartments are offered on a first come first served basis.

Please do not call to make your appointment before April 14th at 10 am!

For Bryn Mawr students

If space is available, Bryn Mawr students may apply online beginning April 28th.
STEP 1:
Fill out and submit a hardcopy application. Applications (hardcopy) are available at the HCA Office, only. Everyone applying to live at HCA this summer must complete the online application.

STEP 2:
Beginning on
April 30th, call the HCA mangement office at x1779 or at 610.642.5884 to make an appointment to sign your lease and, if necessary, choose your apartment (students who currently live in HCA must remain in the same apartment during the summer). You must submit your online application no later than 3:00 pm on the day BEFORE you call to make your appointment.

STEP 3:
You will meet with folks in the HCA management office to take care of all necessary paperwork for the summer. Please bring a blank check with you to your appointment so that you can secure your summer apartment. The amount due will vary depending on when you will be moving into HCA, so please wait until your appointment to find out the amount due.

THE ORDER IN WHICH STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE AN APARTMENT IS NOT BASED UPON CLASS YEAR, BUT RATHER UPON WHEN YOUR APPOINTMENT IS MADE WITH THE HCA MANAGEMENT OFFICE. APARTMENTS ARE OFFERED ON A "FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE" BASIS.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL TO MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT BEFORE APRIL 30TH AT 10 AM!

PLEASE NOTE: WHEN YOU SUBMIT YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION WILL HAVE NO BEARING UPON WHEN YOU CHOOSE YOUR APARTMENT. HOWEVER, IF ENOUGH APARTMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, WE WILL USE THE DATE AND TIME OF THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION TO DETERMINE WHO RECEIVES APARTMENTS. IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH APARTMENTS TO ACCOMMODATE ALL BRYN MAWR STUDENTS, THOSE STUDENTS WORKING AT HAVERFORD DURING THE SUMMER WILL RECEIVE PRIORITY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO INDICATE ON YOUR APPLICATION IF YOU WILL BE WORKING AT HAVERFORD AND WITH WHOM YOU WILL BE WORKING.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Students currently living in HCA, must remain in the same apartment unless....

THE TRANSITION FROM SEMESTER II HOUSING TO SUMMER HOUSING OCCURS IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. TO ACCOMMODATE THIS QUICK TRANSITION AND TO PREPARE THE APARTMENTS BEFORE NEW RESIDENTS MOVE IN, WE ARE REQUIRING STUDENTS CURRENTLY LIVING AT HCA TO REMAIN IN THEIR APARTMENT DURING THE SUMMER.

There are a few exceptions:
If you would like to live with a student this summer who also currently lives in the apartments, indicate on the online form which of the two apartments you would like to live in during the summer.
If you currently live in a two-bedroom apartment and need a smaller apartment, you may move to a C. If you currently live in C and will need space for 3 students, you may move to a A, B, or D apartment.
Four buildings will be used for summer conferences and the students currently living in those buildings must move. The information is pending on which buildings will not be available for summer housing. Please check this webpage soon for updates on which buildings will be affected.

Cleaning of apartment before move in
THE TRANSITION FROM SEMESTER II HOUSING TO SUMMER HOUSING IS A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. TO ACCOMMODATE THIS TRANSITION, THE APARTMENTS MUST BE RENTED IN "AS IS" CONDITION.

If you would like for your apartment to be cleaned you have two options. You may:
move into Gummere temporarily (05/18-05/21) until we can clean the apartment. (A light cleaning of kitchens and bathrooms, only, will be done.)
move into the apartment, place your belongings in the bedroom, and a light cleaning of kitchens and bathrooms, only, will be done.
You must make a request for a cleaning, prior to moving in and by Friday, May 9th,
by emailing Patricia at pharris@haverford.edu.

Air Conditioners
The renter must supply the unit and make arrangements for installation with the HCA office. Renters may neither install nor remove units (there is no charge for installation and removal). There is an additional charge of $100/month per air conditioning unit.

Summer Repairs and Improvements

We will be completing repairs and improvements to many of the apartments during the summer. Many apartments will receive repairs that do not require the apartment to be vacant; students will be notified 24 hours before those repairs take place. In the event that major improvements and/or repairs will take place in your apartment that require that apartment to be vacated, YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED TO ANOTHER HCA UNIT WHICH YOU MUST OCCUPY.
