ROOM
KEYS
SATURDAY,
SEPTEMBER 1st
Students
may pick up their key between 9:00am - 9:00pm at Facilities
Management.
From 9:00 pm to midnight, students must first go to Safety
& Security to leave their name. Security will then
contact the Locksmith. Students on the next
hour exactly must be at Facilities Management
to meet the Locksmith to get their key. The
Locksmith will only be at Facilities Management once an
hour on the hour (exactly at 10:00pm, at 11:00pm and at
midnight) and will only have keys for those students whose
name are on the list provided by Security.
Students must be waiting at Facilities Management on the
hour - the Locksmith will not wait.
IF YOU WILL BE ARRIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT, you must contact
the Housing Office no later than 4:30pm, Thursday, August
30th, to make the necessary arrangements. Students arriving
after midnight, who have made these prior arrangements
with the Housing Office, may pick up their key at the
Safety & Security Office. Students arriving after
midnight who have not contacted the Housing Office prior
to the 30th, will not be able to pick up their key nor
get into their room, will need to make other arrangements
for the night and will need to wait to pick up their key
during Non-Academic Registration on Sunday, September
2nd.
SUNDAY,
SEPTEMBER 2nd
Students arriving from 8:30am - 3:00pm, may pick up their
room key at Non-Academic Registration. If you cannot attend
Non-Academic Registration, you must make arrangements
with the Housing Office no later than 4:30 pm, Friday,
August 31st (610-896-1298 or housing@haverford.edu).
AS
OF MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd, you may pick up your
key at the Facilities Management Office, during regular
working hours, M-F, 8:00am - 4:00pm.
EARLY
ARRIVALS
Student who have been given permission to return early,
please click here for
information on key pick up. Students who have been given
special permission to return, please remember that you
must acknowledge receipt of your key by swiping your One
Card by the end of Non-Academic Registration on Sunday,
September 2nd. Dorm security is a serious matter, and
Facilities Management must be able to confirm that the
department's records match the number of the key in your
possession. If you do not personally swipe your OneCard
for your room key at the Facilities Management Office
when you first arrive, you can do so during their regular
hours M-F, 8am - 4:00 pm or at Non-Academic Registration,
on either Wednesday, August 29th or Sunday, September
2nd. A brief word about parties: For obvious reasons
Customs Week, for all participants, is "dry."
If you are not formally involved in first-year activities,
please honor the "custom" of a dry week for
those who are.
The
meal plan, for both HC and BMC, begins with the dinner
meal on Sunday, September 2. The meal exchange
will go into effect with dinner on that day as well. Because
the food service will already be in operation accommodating
both the athletic and customs programs, you may purchase
your meals at the occasional meal rate through brunch
on Sunday. Residents of HCA, 710 College Avenue and Ira
De A. Reid House are permitted either to be off the board
plan or to take the partial board plan. If you are living
in one of these dorms and want one of these two options,
you should immediately notify Barbara Wilson, Student
Accounts Coordinator in the Business Office, at 610-896-1251
or at bwilson@haverford.edu.
If you do not contact Barbara Wilson, you will be on the
full meal plan and your student account will be charged
accordingly.
If
you are living off campus and want to be on either the
full or partial board plan, you should also notify Barbara
Wilson.

PETS
Fur-bearing animals, such as cats, dogs, gerbils, hamsters,
mice and rabbits are not permitted in our housing at any
time. Any student who is found keeping a fur-bearing animal
in a Haverford residence hall or apartment may lose the
right to live in College housing and have to move out
within two days. The pet must be removed from the dorm
the day the animal is discovered or the owner will be
fined $100.00.
ROOM
DECORATIONS
Room/suite decorations are encouraged as a way of personalizing
a living space. Students should attach memo boards, posters,
and similar items to walls/doors using poster putty. Students
may not write, paint or otherwise mark on any surface
in any residence hall. Thumbtacks, nails and tape are
not permitted as they damage walls.
SMOKING
POLICY
The
College has adopted a smoking policy to protect individuals
who do not wish to be exposed to smoke of any kind. All
non-residential buildings have been designated "smoke-free
areas". No one may smoke inside any such building,
and smokers should take care not to cause others discomfort
when smoking too close to an entrance of such a building.
Students'
Council has determined that smoking should be permitted
in student housing so long as no other resident(s)
object. Smoking in College housing is a privilege,
not a right.

Smoking Policy & Smoke-Free Housing for further
information and to read the full policy.
