“[Haverford taught me]academic and humanitarian interests need not be mutually exclusive,” says AmeriCorps member Rebecca Schwartz ’13, “and that my academic background can, and should, serve my community and help to build connections among the people I encounter.”

Every year the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship, the John B. Hurford ’60 Center for Arts and Humanities and the Marian E. Koshland Integrated Science Center sponsor summer work, research and internships for almost 150 students.

The Center for Peace and Global Citizenship funds a variety of activities, including student research, summer internships, and service learning.

Visiting Professor of Economics Biswajit Banerjee and 17 students spent fall break visiting the European Commission in Brussels and the Central European Bank in Germany.
