American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC)
In September 2007 Haverford College signed the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). By doing this, Haverford College is morally committed to reducing its carbon footprint and becoming climate neutral. As an educational institution, Haverford has the opportunity to model ways to eliminate global warming and educate students on sustainable living practices. View the entire document >

SEI Sustainable Report Card
The Sustainable Endowment Institute's Report Card is a rating system for the top college and universities with 300 largest endowments. These institutions are leading by example in their commitment to sustainability. The aim is to provide accessible information for schools to learn from one another's experiences, enabling them to establish more effective sustainability policies. Haverford College went from a C in 2008 to a B in 2009. The report card is an effective tool in measuring progress and identifying areas where the college could go in the future.
Haverford College Campus Master Plan
In January of 2009 Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates, Inc. completed a master plan for Haverford College.
"The master plan will serve as a living document and decision making tool, providing guidance for the development of the college well into the future. The plan will balance our ambitions for academic and institutional development with our commitment to sustaining the physical beauty of the campus and its buildings. The plan aims to be comprehensive historically responsive and environmentally proactive and to take into consideration what Haverford College has been in the past, where it is today, and where it sees itself going in the next quarter of a century" – from the Haverford College Master Plan Website

Douglas B. Gardner '83 Integrated Athletic Center
The new athletic facility received a LEED's gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Haverford College is committed to building all future structures to at least a LEED Silver rating.
Designed by the internationally acclaimed architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the Gardner Center is a memorial to three former Haverford College student-athletes and loyal alumni - Douglas B. Gardner, Thomas B. Glasser, and Calvin Gooding - who died tragically on September 11, 2001 in New York City.
