Giving

Thank You!

"Some things will never be forgotten!"

Some things will never be forgotten! If ever there was a more appreciative person, it would be me. Without the help of donors such as you, my education would not be possible. Your actions help ensure the perpetuation of Haverford’s legacy, and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to thank you personally for your generosity. Your investment in the College and current students are much appreciated and certainly will never be taken for granted.

“Student workers are one of the best assets we have in the Library.”

Student workers are one of the best assets we have in the Library. They are all in the work/study program and receive financial support from the College. This support is made possible, in part, by the Annual Fund, and the students’ assistance in many projects allows staff to provide a finished product at such a high level. Without the Annual Fund to provide financial aid our students, these creative and enthusiastic assistants throughout the College would not be able to attend Haverford.

“We are thankful to those in the wider Haverford community who give to the Annual Fund.”

Our daughter was drawn to Haverford because of the College’s values. As Quakers and educators, as well as parents, we are grateful that she was able to participate in and contribute to such a wonderful and enriching institution. We are thankful to those in the wider Haverford community who give to the Annual Fund and help to make the Haverford experience accessible for students like Amy.

“I am deeply grateful to all of the alumni, parents and friends who have given to Haverford’s Annual Fund.”

I am deeply grateful to all of the alumni, parents and friends who have given to Haverford’s Annual Fund, which makes so much possible at the College. At an institution rich with traditions, giving to the Annual Fund is one of Haverford’s oldest and most important. The Annual Fund supports the College’s academics, student programs, operations and much more, but it also unites alumni, parents and friends worldwide who have embraced the spirit of giving and directed that generosity toward Haverford. I benefited from this generosity as a student, and now I am privileged to provide this benefit to the next generation of Haverfordians.

“My fond memories of Haverford begin with an initial visit as a high school student.”

My fond memories of Haverford begin with an initial visit as a high school student. I was especially intrigued about the academic Honor Code that the guide books and brochures had described as the core of the College. Upon acceptance, I expanded my intellectual horizons in ways unimaginable to a Long Island teenager. Over time, I become a better thinker, reader, writer, speaker and morally aware citizen. After experiencing Haverford – in the classroom, dormitories, athletic fields and artistic spaces – one realizes how the liberal arts enhance one’s ability to navigate social and political complexities. I am grateful for the comprehensive education, the enduring friendships, and I thank all of the many contributors to the Annual Fund for making Haverford a uniquely outstanding institution in U.S. higher education.

“Every student benefits from alumni or parent gifts because tuition covers only approximately 70% of the actual cost of a Haverford education.”

Every student benefits from alumni or parent gifts because tuition covers only approximately 70% of the actual cost of a Haverford education. I never knew this fact when I was a student but now understand that all Fords are recipients of an academic scholarship during their time on campus. A gift from a member of the Haverford community to the Annual Fund is one of the most significant ways to demonstrate one's dedication to the College. Through these commitments, the College is able to sustain its viability as a center for educating the next generation of critical thinkers and leaders. Indeed, my college experience was more than four years -- Haverford has developed into a life commitment to a special community and a value system that is the essence of everything I do -- my family, my friendships and my career.

“With only one year under my belt, I am excited for the next three because Haverford is changing me into a deliberate thinker and a passionate leader.”

For some, a "college that 'opens doors' to its students" might be a cliché, but for me, that hardly covers the generosity and gifts my school has given to me. Haverford has, in fact, opened doors to me, quite literally: into brilliant art studios where I can express my non-academic passion and be guided by award-winning artist-teachers; crisp chemistry labs; and professors' offices to discuss my future plans or a weekly assignment. With only one year under my belt, I am excited for the next three because Haverford is changing me into a deliberate thinker and a passionate leader, someone who seeks to make beneficial, lasting changes for the school and the world. But without the support of Annual Fund donors there would be no glimmering art studio, no supplied chemistry table, no open office and no 'me' as a student here. These donations have been crucial in changing MY life and the lives of so many other yearning students, for the best, because of their financial support. It is hard to imagine a life without Haverford; therefore, I thank the alumni, parents and friends who have donated, for you are giving me the opportunity of a lifetime by providing me, and so many students like me, the gift of an education we could not have financed on our own. One day, I hope to do the same for a talented student here at Haverford College.

“Haverford is a wonderful community, made stronger by each of you.”

As Provost of this academically vibrant College, I want to lend my sincere thanks to all for your strong support of Haverford. Much of what we achieve as an academic community today, and what we dream to do in the future, is based on your financial support of our programs. Our plan for academic enrichment -- the vision to expand the faculty and offer new programs and new opportunities for student-faculty scholarly collaboration – would not be possible without your generous support and encouragement. Haverford is a wonderful community, made stronger by each of you.

“Annual giving... maintains a learning environment where all students can achieve their goals through higher education.”

As a rising junior at Haverford College, I am starting to realize the many benefits that come from the Annual Fund. Annual giving not only helps many students, like me, afford a Haverford education, it also maintains a learning environment where all students can achieve their goals through higher education. I would like to thank all the donors for their generosity and their interest in keeping a great school like Haverford College running.
