Haverford has been a life-changing experience for me, and I cannot imagine myself studying anywhere else but here. The scholarship is what makes this all possible for me, and words cannot express how appreciative I am to have such an incredible opportunity.

Haverford’s challenging but non-competitive academic environment has really allowed me to thrive and push myself to limits I didn’t realize were attainable, while at the same time the community’s focus on social justice and humility have allowed me to remain grounded. These amazing opportunities and experiences are possible only because of the generosity of a complete stranger and for that, I’ll always be eternally grateful.

I cannot tell you how overwhelmingly grateful I am to be receiving the J. Russell "Rusty" King 1976 Scholarship. When I was first notified, I was sitting in my Junior Religion Seminar, and I don't think I will ever forget that moment. This scholarship makes it truly possible for me to focus on other things like going to Paris next semester or finding a job next summer. These are the little things that I am so grateful to have.

It always takes a bit of extra energy to get through exams and the fact that Haverford is able to provide that through extracurricular activities and other social gatherings shows how strong our community is and how much we care for one another. The Archibald Macintosh Scholarship is as extension of this support, as is the alumni base. I'm forever indebted to the MacIntosh Fund and to Haverford for believing in my abilities as a scholar.

Haverford has a truly great financial aid system and I feel privileged to attend a college where I am given so much. I was born and raised in Calcutta, India. My parents have lived there for the past 25 years and work with a school for the children of the most disadvantaged families. My parents and I are both sincerely grateful for your commitment to enabling Haverford to provide fantastic financial aid packages to students from lower-income families.

I am so incredibly grateful for this scholarship, and it means so much to me that I was chosen. I fully intend to continue working hard and earning every piece of this scholarship granted to me. It means the world to me, and I was elated that I could tell my parents the news because making them proud is one of the best feelings to me.

Without this scholarship, it would be impossible for me to pursue an education. Haverford's financial aid generosity has dumbfounded me as I am from Myanmar—a place where the government uses a very small percent of the country's budget for education. Alleviating financial barriers against education is a crucial humanitarian act. I feel so privileged and honored to be here and, at the same time, obliged to be a constructive part of Haverford community and beyond.

Without scholarship support my dreams and goals would be difficult to bring to fruition. I am taking full advantage of all that Haverford has to offer—from courses to extracurriculars, to playing soccer and singing with the Oxford Blues. I was even able to realize work with sea turtles in Greece, conduct research at Haverford, participate in a Habitat for Humanity trip and intern at the Philadelphia Zoo. Thank you for helping to make my wildest dreams come true.
