Christopher Pavsek, Visiting Assistant Professor
Christopher Pavsek received his B.A. in German Literature from
Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Literature from Duke University.
His teaching and research interests include contemporary world
cinema, critical theory, film theory, and 20th century German
literature. He wrote his dissertation on the film maker Alexander
Kluge and has published on a number of international film makers.
He translated Kluge's short novel, "Learning Processes with
a Deadly Outcome" (Duke University Press, 1996). He is also
a documentary and experimental film maker. His films include the
documentary "Welcome to the New World Order, AIDS in Vietnam"
as well as his most recent experimental video, "The One and
All", about patriotism and religion in the US since 9-11.
"The One and All" has shown at festivals around the
world. He is currently working on a book project "The Utopia
of Film: Projections of an Ideal World in Cinema Theory and Practice."
He is also completing a film entitled "Close to Vietnam."
