An important part of your work, and consequently of your success, is your regular attendance. Likewise, being on time (class will begin at 8:35) is essential. A student who is often absent or late interferes with the work of other students who have taken their responsibilities to the class community more seriously.
More than 5 absences during the semester risks seriously compromising your success. Note that leaving early for break or Thanksgiving counts as unexcused absence, and you should take the Blue Bus schedule into account if you are coming from BMC. You're of course allowed to miss class for illness or for religious, athletic or academic commitments, but in that case, you won't be excused unless you contact M. Kight ahead of time (in person or by e-mail) or at the time of the absence. Eating in class is frowned on, but you can bring things to drink. Make an effort to visit the bathroom before or after class, leave your laptop at home, and turn off your cell phones, please. Don't wear baseball caps, hats or hoods in class. |
