Les formats et
les modalités pour
les devoirs

Unless otherwise indicated, you will submit homework as a file attached to a Eudora ou SquirrelMail message (not in the body of the message!!). The file will have to be compatible with MS Word (current version) and Mac OSX (generally, with a .doc suffix). Put a logical heading in the Subject: of the message. Homework will be accepted until 3 p. m. on the day due, unless you have consulted me to discuss a possible exception.

If you have trouble saving your file in an acceptable form, consult LLC personnel. If you don't know how to type accents in a document or an e-mail, consult the "Accents"link on the LLC site.

Using computer resources to check grammar and spelling is an essential point of departure for written work, but remember that a word or grammatical construction that exist, but which are incorrect in a given context, will be indicated as correct by the computer. Using a grammar- or spell-check is a good way to draw your attention to something that might be incorrect, but nothing more reliable than that. You have to consult a hard-bound dictionary afterwards! (See the manuels page for other useful resources.)

Sometimes, you may have to make a file accessible in Storage; if you haven't set up this space, consult the LLC personnel. You will also be working collaboratively by using the Blackboard Wiki tool. Here's the procedure to follow:

  • I will give you an assignment to work on with a partner (or several), using the Wiki tool. You and your partner(s) will make the assignment as perfect as possible, using the resources available (Texte, dictionary ...).
  • I will annotate your work with comments to guide further revisions. This conversation will be complemented by a discussion in the «Comments» window (click on the button at bottom right of the Wiki page). I will be able to follow the evolution of the work through «History» and the discussion in «Comments»..
  • When the assignment is due, I will forward it to you via e-mail with further comments and corrections and a grade. The grade will reflect your contribution to the revisions; in general, if each participant expends roughly the same amount of effort, all the members of a group will receive the same grade.
