Welcome to Haverford College. As Dean for First-Year students, I have the pleasure to be your primary administrative resource person. As you prepare to enter college, and throughout your first year at Haverford, you should feel free to contact me for any assistance and/or guidance you might need. I work as part of a team of dedicated faculty, administrators and students who are eager for your arrival on August 26, 2009.
This page will provide you with a great deal of useful information that will be important to you as you prepare to make the transition from high school to college. Links to other sites within the college will be available through this site. In addition, you will receive a Summer Communications Schedule in May which will serve as a guide to complete your preparations.
View more information for international students.
Around June 1st you will be able to you activate your Haverford e-mail account and we will send you most of our summer communications electronically. Check the account weekly to make sure you are up to date with all communications from the college. You can complete some of the placement tests on line. You will find those links under Academics. The housing application, due June 12th, can be completed on line and is accessible from this web page. Health and technology forms can be downloaded from this first year web page as well.
A team of Customs People will welcome you when you arrive on campus and will serve as your guides during Customs Week and throughout the year. Customs Week at Haverford is designed to serve as an orientation to our community for the first year students. Placement tests, meetings with Faculty Advisors and with Upperclass Advisors (UCAs) during Customs Week will help you prepare to be ready for the first day of classes on September 1st. The updated Customs Week schedule will be posted during the summer.
I look forward to meeting you on August 26th. In the meantime, enjoy your summer and make sure you learn as much as possible about Haverford's programs and activities by reading the mailings and looking through our web site.
In summary, you must complete the following as soon as possible:
Worried you missed an email? If you are concerned that you missed a communication from Haverford, you can view an archive of all messages sent from the Deans' office and other campus offices to the entire class of 2013. You can read the archive here. This archive is kept on our Mailman mailing list server and requires a password that is different from your Haverford email password. To get your mailman password, click here. Enter your Haverford email address as your email address and select HC13 from the "list name" drop down menu. Click on the "email my password" button to have your password emailed to your Haverford Email account.
