You can afford Haverford. Financial aid is available to students who need it as determined by a need-based allocation formula developed by the College. This includes the recently adopted policy of replacing loans in a financial aid package with additional College grants, helping to make Haverford more affordable than ever while unburdening our graduates of debt.
Haverford has always sought to enroll the most qualified students regardless of their financial circumstances. To that end, the Admission staff admits students without regard to their financial need; an application for financial aid has no bearing on the admission decision for US citizens and eligible non-citizens. Haverford does not offer any financial aid on the basis of academic, musical, athletic, or any other evaluation of merit. Rather, Haverford will meet the full demonstrated need of all admitted students who were judged eligible according to the College's formula and procedures.
If you think you cannot afford Haverford College, please take time to read what follows and to raise questions with our Financial Aid or Admission staff. We are eager to help you. It is very important that you and your family understand all the procedures and policies of the financial aid program at Haverford. All of this information, including downloadable forms, is provided on this site. Haverford does not have a separate, institutional application for first time students.
