Young Alumni Giving Month

Young Alumni Giving Month celebrates the importance of support for Haverford from graduates of the last decade.

YAGM 2012 ended on October 31, but due to Hurricane Sandy we have extended the special challenge and the 1:1 match through Monday, November 5.

Every young alumni gift to the Annual Fund received by November 5, 2012 will be matched, dollar for dollar up to $100,000, by a family from the Class of 2011.

leaf-bullet SPECIAL CHALLENGE: When 700 donors–from all classes–have made a gift by November 5, Haverford will receive a total of $20,000 in matching money. We are so close to securing the final $10,000! Please,  give to what you love today.

About Young Alumni Giving Month

What mattered most to you when you were a student? Taking a course with a world-renowned scholar? Receiving financial aid from the College? Lounging on Founders Green in between classes? Competing for a Centennial Conference Championship? Scoring free tickets for an event from the Student Activities Office?

Now you have the chance to support a specific area of the Haverford experience so current students can enjoy the best the 'Ford has to offer. This year, you may choose to direct your Annual Fund gift to the area that you value most:

leaf-bullet Academic Enrichment

Supports teaching, learning and research by funding academic departments, libraries and technology services, curriculum development, instructional programs and the academic Centers.

leaf-bullet Financial Aid

Sustains the College's commitment to need-blind admission, which is underscored by our decision to replace loans with grants.

leaf-bullet Campus and Facilities

Provides funding for the maintenance, grounds-and house-keeping, upgrades and beautification of our campus and facilities.

leaf-bullet Student Life

Makes possible opportunities for self-governance, volunteerism, performances and critical services that help students thrive within a positive and supportive environment.

leaf-bullet Athletics

Underwrites the teams, clubs, programs and activities that create and support a culture of intellectual, physical and personal development.

leaf-bullet Greatest Need (Unrestricted)

Allows Haverford to direct your gift to the area of the College where it is most needed.

These six areas encompass all aspects of the Haverford experience and allow you to choose the option that is most meaningful to you personally. There's no better time to support Haverford than Young Alumni Giving Month, so give to what you love by October 31.

Frequently Asked Questions

Young Alumni gifts will be matched through November 5 this year, due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy on many Fords living in affected regions.

Why should I make a gift to Haverford?

In order for our community to thrive, each member must participate in sustaining and building it. Making a gift to Haverford's Annual Fund–in any amount–is one of the most important ways young alumni can do that.

What will my gift be used for?

All gifts received during YAGM go to Haverford's Annual Fund, which provides current-year operating support for the College. This year, you may direct your Annual Fund gift to the specific area of the Haverford experience that you value most:

  • Academic Enrichment
  • Financial Aid
  • Campus and Facilities
  • Student Life
  • Athletics
  • Greatest Need (Unrestricted)

I can only give a small amount. Why should I bother?

Because your gift, no matter the size, is like voting on Election Day. Your single vote may seem insignificant, but it's the collective votes that make a difference. When everyone participates in giving to the Annual Fund, it's like a collective vote of support for Haverford. And, all gifts combined add up to thousands of dollars that we use to keep the College running.

Additionally, a family from the Class of 2011 will match your gift, making the act of giving even more meaningful, because it leverages additional vital revenue for the College.

What are the terms of the match?

Every young alumni gift to Haverford's Annual Fund received by November 5, 2012 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. For example, a gift of $25 will be matched with a gift of $25, becoming $50 to support Haverford.

Will the matching gift count toward my class's gift total or my membership in The 1833 Society?

No. Only your original gift, before the match, is credited for these purposes.

If I make a pledge and promise to pay it by the end of the fiscal year on June 30th, can I still receive the matching dollars?

No. A pledge made during Young Alumni Giving Month will not be matched unless actual payment of the gift is made by November 5, 2012.

If I made my gift before YAGM started, will it be matched?

Yes. All gifts made between July 1 and November 5, 2012 qualify for the match.

How do I make my gift?

You can give online, by phone (1-866-443-8442) or by mailing a check payable to Haverford College:

Institutional Advancement
Haverford College
370 Lancaster Avenue
Haverford, PA 19041

All checks postmarked by November 5, 2012 will qualify for the YAGM match.

How do I contact someone if I have additional questions not answered here?

Send us an email or call or 1-866-GIFT-4HC.
