Research
My research interests have been varied, including working summers for Smithkline while a student at Haverford, studying Paramecium with Irv Finger as a biology major at Haverford, sickle cell disease with Toshio Asakura at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and myb promoters in murine IL-2 cells as a graduate student with Prem Reddy at Temple.
My research interests later shifted to clinical vaccine trials. Our group has participated in trials for most of the currently licensed vaccines including Pediatrix, MMRV, Varicella, Gardasil, and Prevnar, and I have been prinicple investigator at our site for Lyme, Flumist, TdaP, and Menctra trials.
Currently, most of my research time is spent as chair of the Instututional Review Board at Grand View Hospital, where we have an active clinical research program and average about 35 clinical trials at one time. As a Fox Chase Cancer Center, we participate in a number of oncology trials from the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the National Cancer Institute. We also have several ongoing Cardiology, Pediatric, and Surgical trials, as well as some epidemiologic studies with the University of Pennsylvania and the NIH.
