I attended the University of Toronto from 1982-1986, earning a B.A. in Latin and English. Unable to choose between Classics and English, I went on to graduate school in Comparative Literature at the University of California at Berkeley and received my PhD in 1994. While I am a member of Haverford's English Department, I am also very much involved with the Program in Comparative Literature.

I am particularly interested in medieval conceptions of gender, masculine as well as feminine, and in interdisciplinary studies which move between religion, literary criticism and art history. These interests are reflected both in my research and in the courses I have taught here at Haverford.

ENGL 201b Chaucer: Dream Visions and Troilus MW 2:30-4
