Behind the rather stylish female figure in black lies the limestone bluffs of the English coast. On this copy it's a bit hard to make out clearly the lighthouse (white tower) in the far right background. Around her bloom wildflowers--the frothy white heads of Queen Anne's Lace? What do we make of her gesture? Is she in a trance, having a vision? What does she see? Why does she reach out as she does?
