I picked up the pamphlet below in the Church of Notre-Dame in Montreal this past summer; I include it here as evidence that the cult of relics did not come to an end with the middle ages. The reliquary photographed below contains a sample of what is presumed to be Christ's Blood; the text which follows documents the scientific tests which have been performed on this blood.
