Office of Multicultural Affairs Student Internship Application

Thank you for your interest in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The OMA is a thriving office committed to multiculturalism, social justice, and anti-oppression work in the Haverford Community. This two-part application is due Friday, January 22 by midnight. You are asked to complete the application and attach a resume. The resume should include relevant work, class experience and any other factors you feel qualify you for the position. Any questions should be sent directly to Frederic MacDonald-Dennis at fmacdona@haverford.edu. You will be notified the week of January 25th as to whether or not we can offer you an interview. Important Information about the OMA Internship Program

Job Elements:

The individual, specific internship job tasks will be designed based on the needs of the office and the interest and skills of the intern. Some of the areas of responsibility could include:

  • Assisting with planning calendar management
  • Assisting with the coordinator of OMA-initiated programs including Black History Convocation, Women’s History Month programming, AAPI Month programming, Multicultural Affairs Senior Reception, Alumni of Color Reception during Alumni weekend, and others
  • Assisting with Summer TriCo coordination
  • Administrative tasks and errands – all interns will have some responsibility for this
  • Website content management
  • Event photography
  • Design and distribution of publicity materials
  • Facilitating student groups in their knowledge and use of office resources and offerings
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Expectations:

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong interest in multiculturalism, diversity, and social justice
  • Ability to work 5-7 hours per week; at least 4 of these hours will need to be regularly scheduled in-office hours
  • Ability to manage time in such a way as to balance academics and work in order to be able to show up for work reliably

Remuneration: Interns will be paid in accordance with the college’s student employment wage schedule.
