The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) sustains and carries out Haverford College’s commitment to diversity by supporting student programs, faculty initiatives, and curricular innovations that cultivate a vibrant and multifaceted intellectual community.
Through a variety of student internships as well as through programs such as the Tri-College Multicultural Leadership Institute, the Multicultural Scholars Program, the Ambassadors for Multicultural Awareness, the Sophomore Conversation Series, and the Rufus Jones Leadership Institute, the OMA seeks to work with all those on, and beyond, the Haverford campus who are committed to the collaborative work of building a generative and diverse community.
The OMA offers grants of up to $300 in start-up funds for initiatives and ideas that foster cultural transformation on campus, so if you're interested in starting a film series, working to create ties with a community organization in Ardmore or Philly or Manila, thinking about planning a workshop or bringing a speaker or artist to campus or want to cook up something else entirely check out th funding application. Fall 2012 deadlines for grant applications are September 24 and October 22.

Five seniors were awarded the MMUF and presented their senior research projects at a ceremony on May 14, 2013. All five students studied abroad during their junior year.
Jake Weisenthal and Shanina Halbert have won full-year fellowships that will support their work with organizations in Guatemala and Colombia, respectively.
The Thomas J. Watson Scholarship provides unparalleled exploration for forty exceptional graduating college seniors in any field. Students conceive a dream-year integrating their unique experience, proven skills and passion and receive support for a year of independent study on an international scale.
