"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."
-Marcel Proust How
to Get Started
The Office of International Academic Programs
in Chase 213 has a great deal of material to help you decide whether
study abroad is for you, and, if so, where to go. You can read summaries
of all programs,
as well as student evaluations of each program. You can borrow books, catalogs, videos and take copies of brochures and handouts. The office is
open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
• What are the requirements for graduation and how do I intend to meet them?
• What shall I major in? What are the requirements of the departments in which I might major
and how can I meet them?
• What do I want out of a semester or year abroad—e.g., language facility, exposure to a new culture,
on-site historical or sociological study, etc.?
• How can I fulfill my language requirement abroad?
• Does my program have a minimum language requirement?
• What about finances? Is financial aid available?
• How do I apply?
When you have some idea of the program that best meets your needs,
you should schedule an appointment with Dean Mancini to help you
make your final choice.
