In
order to be eligible, students must fill out Haverford's Application
for International Academic Programs form by October 5 or February
5. Students must submit the required financial aid application
forms no later than April 20, to the Financial Aid Office and
should contact them directly, if they have any questions. Some
international programs are also sources of financial aid, and
students are required to apply to them. Although we’ve never
had to use it, a policy has been established for awarding financial
aid should requests exceed our resources.
Following the strict
guidelines of the EPC, a committee, comprised of Donna Mancini
and three members of the faculty appointed by the Provost, ranks
students for financial aid according to the following criteria:
1) Language majors
who wish to study languages at universities abroad.
2) Non-language majors who wish to attend non-English-speaking
programs that will contribute to a course of study.
3) Students who wish to attend English-speaking universities or
programs abroad to enhance their major programs or concentrations.
4) All other applicants.
Financial aid covers
tuition, room, board, basic living expenses, and some miscellaneous
expenses such as books and supplies. It does not cover entertainment
or travel; however, an allowance for around-trip airfare is included for students who are receiving Haverford College grant funds based on need. Certain
other costs may not be covered by financial aid, since these will
vary from program to program.
