Parents & Guests

The Commencement Ceremony will be Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. on Roberts Hall Green. Tickets are not required.

The Commencement ceremony begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. We recommend you arrive early to avoid heavy local traffic. Two other local colleges hold their commencement ceremonies on the same day as we do. A video "Webcast" will be available shortly after graduation day.

In the event of inclement weather the ceremony and reception will be in the Alumni Field House. Campus Safety personnel will be on site to direct all our guests.

  • Parking

Barclay Beach will be the primary area for parking on Commencement day. If entering from Lancaster Ave., officers will direct vehicles to park at Barclay Beach. If entering from College Ave. or Old Railroad Ave., officers will direct vehicles to park in the South Lot. If you have questions, please call Campus Safety at (610) 896-1111. Safety officers will be stationed at campus entrances and on the roadways on Commencement Day to provide directions.

Shuttles will run between the Commencement site and various parking areas, but all parking locations are no more than a five minute walk from this site. A shuttle stop will be on Founders green across from Barclay Hall.

Parking on Sunday morning will be available in the Haverford South Parking Lot and on selected fields near the ceremony site. View the Campus Map. Campus Safety Officers will be stationed at entrances to direct traffic.

You should have received a red parking tag, which should be displayed on your dashboard to assist our parking attendants in identifying parents. Parking tags are not required; there will be sufficient parking for all guests.

  • Special Needs

Special parking for the handicapped is available by request. If you or a guest requires handicapped parking or seating, please contact Adrienne Selinger at (610) 896-1061 or aselinge@haverford.edu to make arrangements. A blue parking tag will be sent to you; please display this in your windshield to enable Campus Safety Officers to identify and direct you.

  • Honorary Degree Recipients

Each year Haverford College awards up to four honorary degrees to men and women who have distinguished themselves in letters, the sciences, or the arts. Many recipients are noted for their contributions to the overall betterment of humankind and/or Haverford College.

  • Photography

All graduates: The College will engage the services of a photographer, who will photograph each graduating senior individually as his or her diploma is presented. We provide this service to ensure that this moment is captured, thus relieving parents and friends of any need for photographing.

Haverford's Legacy Photographs: Alumni Parents and alumni relatives are invited to a special photography session, with their graduating senior, for display on the Haverford College Website and in Haverford Magazine. The photographer will be stationed near the ramp to Magill Library during the reception following Commencement. In the event of rain, the photographer will be stationed in the Alumni Field House, in the northeast corner (closest to the Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center).
