Support for Summer Language Study
Thanks to the generosity of alumni and the John B. Hurford '60 Humanities Center, two or more Haverford students have the opportunity to study elementary Greek and Latin at programs such as those at the University of Pennsylvania, City University of New York, and University of California-Berkeley. Applications for this program are taken in the spring. . This program is not limited to Classics majors, and all interested Haverford students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Summer Research Assistants
Students regularly have the opportunity to work with faculty over the summer in paid full- and part-time internships. In recent summers, students have worked with Professor Roberts on the translation of ancient obscenity and Professor Mulligan on a variety of scholarly and instructional initiatives, including quantifying the prosody of several Latin poets, renovating courses, and recording Podcasts of Caesar, Cicero, and Herodotus.
