Thursday
April 27

Read

Plato, Apology and Crito (pp. 34-96)

Also, peruse some of the Euthyphro, which concerns the nature of piety, to get a sense of Socrates's Method and why so many Athenians would have found him so exasperating (e.g. pp. 16-19).

RECOMMENDATION: At some point this summer, read ARISTOPHANES, Clouds--a withering and funny satire of Socrates, education, practical minded parents (and students), not to mention professors--what better vacation reading could there be!
