Cicero - Pro Caelio

  • Audio Podcast of Pro Caelio -- includes two versions: "natural" (readings seek to capture the sound, rhythm, and pace of natural speech and performance) and "Study-Speed" (readings are slowed down, with articulation, word groups, and clauses emphasized; perfect for elucidating word groups and reviewing).
  • Performing Cicero: using Cael. 33, "a series of [video] experiments in the performance of a Ciceronian speech. The goal was less to recreate an 'authentic' performance than to identify some parameters of Roman oratory by considering the demands on voice, gesture, dress, and bearing that delivery under ancient conditions imposed."
  • Latin Text of Pro Caelio [PDF] [HTML-- N.B. text may differ in some respects from edition being used in class]
  • Electronic Exercises on Cael. 35-47
  • Bibliography for Pro Caelio by Anonymous
  • The Cicero Homepage (Univ. of Texas): Chronology, Bibliography, Images
  • Plutarch's Biography of Cicero
