Wednesday, October 4

Email: Please answer the following two questions: 1) Based on my comments on your first paper, what areas will you focus on improving when you write your next essay? If you disagree with any of my observations, or have questions and do not have time to see me after class or in my office hours, please comment at this point; 2) Were my marginal notes and summary comments useful? If you have any suggestions for making them more helpful, please pass them along. Attach a copy of your essay (preferably in MS WORD format) to your email.

Read: Aeschylus, Agamemnon (text available outside Hall 008); The Missing Pp. 46-47.

For the history of the House of Atreus before the abduction of Helen and after the end of the Agamemnon, read Curse of the House of Atreus.

I will discuss the nature of Greek tragedy and the original performance context of the Agamemnon in class, but click here for a very brief introduction to the play.
