Lisa Emily Chirlian has taught a variety of chemistry courses including general, physical, environmental chemistry as well as College Seminars (at Bryn Mawr College). One of Dr. Chirlian's on-going projects develops materials to help students develop required skills for success in a chemistry curriculum. She uses the web to provide students with help and encouragement to help them master chemistry.
Dr. Chirlian enjoys bringing science to kids! On the second Thursday of every month she is a guest on the radio program "Kids Corner" hosted by Kathy O'Connell. Her segment is called "Science Fact or Science Fiction?". Children call in, listen to a statement about science from Dr. Lisa and then tell Kathy whether the statement is "science fact" or "science fiction". No prizes are given away on "Science Fact or Science Fiction" except for the greatest prize of all--the prize of knowledge. "Kid's Corner" can be heard every Monday through Friday from 7-8 pm on WXPN (88.5 FM).
Dr. Chirlian received her undergraduate degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken NJ. She received her masters and Ph.D. from Princeton University and was a post-doctoral fellow, supported by the NIH, at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research uses computational methods to study a variety of chemical and biological problems. Some of her publications include:
