Smart Family Internship Grant: Journalism - 2013

This grant is open to any Haverford College current first year, sophomore or junior, who has an interest in the communications field. This grant is designed to encourage students to engage in a (8-10 week)summer internship in the field.

The internship fund will provide one summer stipend of $1500 to assist with expenses associated with pursuing a relevant experience within the field of communications (television, radio, print publication, internet publication, advertising, public relations). The student needs to obtain a relevant summer position.

A candidate must have achieved a high level of scholarship and involvement in related extra-curricular activities, and should possess integrity, independence, and follow through.

Submit your application to the HC Career Development Office by the deadline. Applications should consist of:
  • an essay no longer than 2 pages outlining your past relevant experiences and information about the internship (you do not need to have the internship offer in hand at the time of this application; include information about the organization(s) to which you applied and how this fits in with your career interests)
  • a resume
  • transcript
  • a letter of recommendation from a member of the HC community (faculty, dean, etc.)
  • Two relevant writing samples
  • Funding Request Form
