The Lambda Alumni Internship Program encourages Haverford students, who have completed their sophomore year, to engage in a summer work experience with charitable organizations, societies, associations, or groups that focus on causes, concerns, and issues that affect the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities. The intent of this program is to provide one stipend of $3500 for summer work experiences for which students might not otherwise receive the funding that their financial commitments require.
The Fund will allow one Haverford student to receive funding to participate in a related (8-10 week) summer experience: internship, summer opportunity, volunteer program, etc. The student needs to obtain a summer opportunity with a charitable organization focused on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues, causes, education, or advancement.
A candidate must have achieved a high level of scholarship and involvement in extra-curricular activities, and should possess integrity, independence, social consciousness, and enthusiasm.
The Selection Committee will notify the recipient by April 15. The recipient needs to notify the Committee of his/her acceptance in writing as soon as possible, but no later than April 30, and should consult the Head of the Committee to discuss the decision making process.
