Jane Widseth
Ph.D., Boston University, Psychological Counselor
Having moved from Boston in September 1970, Jane began her work
as a psychological counselor at the College. She was one of the
early women in the administration and one of the two first women
directors in student services. After serving as Director of CAPS
from 1972 to 1983, she returned to a staff position and expanded
her off-campus activities. Jane was on the organizing committee
for the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology and was
its 7th President in 1991-92. She also served a term as President
of the Philadelphia Center for Psychoanalytic Education, a group
that sponsors educational workshops for psychotherapists. She has
been a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of College
Student Psychotherapy since its inception. Her particular interest
in writing is "in the clinical moment" in psychotherapy, issues
for the counselor in his or her work. Jane also maintains a private
practice located in Bryn Mawr. Jane is a member of the College community
in other roles as well: she is married to Professsor of Physics
and Astronomy, Bruce Partridge, and she and Bruce raised their children
here.
