Jane Widseth
Ph.D., Boston University, Psychological Counselor

Having moved from Boston in September 1970, Jane began her work as a psychological counselor at the College. She was one of the early women in the administration and one of the two first women directors in student services. After serving as Director of CAPS from 1972 to 1983, she returned to a staff position and expanded her off-campus activities. Jane was on the organizing committee for the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology and was its 7th President in 1991-92. She also served a term as President of the Philadelphia Center for Psychoanalytic Education, a group that sponsors educational workshops for psychotherapists. She has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy since its inception. Her particular interest in writing is "in the clinical moment" in psychotherapy, issues for the counselor in his or her work. Jane also maintains a private practice located in Bryn Mawr. Jane is a member of the College community in other roles as well: she is married to Professsor of Physics and Astronomy, Bruce Partridge, and she and Bruce raised their children here.
