"Reading the Black Stream"
Description
The Fine Arts Department, in conjunction with the Distinguished Visitors Program, presents Carol Keller, Professor of Art at Amherst College. Keller will give a talk titled, "Territory That Falls Between".
Throughout her career as an artist, Carol Keller has frequently mined territory that exists between the physical fact of sculpture and the illusion and constraint of drawn or pictorial space. She will talk about her fascination with this place that relies equally on the two disciplines and how this interest has continued to shape her work over the years.
Carol is the recipient of numerous awards including: John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, Bogliasco Foundation, Rome Prize, Ingram Merrill Foundation and M.I.T. Council for the Arts Grant. She is represented by Nielsen Gallery in Boston.
