William Appling, pianist, performs on the Guest Artist Series celebrating Black History Month with his program "Celebrating Scott Joplin" in Roberts Hall, Marshall Auditorium.
Description
On Friday, February 27th at 8 pm, the 2008-09 Guest Artist Series honors Black History Month with pianist, William Appling, and his program "Celebrating Scott Joplin" in Roberts Hall, Marshall Auditorium. Tickets are $15 (Gen), $12 (Sr), $8 (Students), $5 (7-17), and are free to the bi-college community.
Noted conductor, pianist, educator, William Appling has received numerous honors and awards throughout his career. Along with founding the William Appling Singers and Orchestra (WASO), a professional ensemble that performs and records chamber works of all periods and styles, he has also enjoyed an active career as a pianist, appearing in solo recital at Town Hall, New York City, concerto performances with the Cleveland Orchestra, at the Aspen Festival under Darius Milhaud, and in duo recital with tenor Seth McCoy. He is currently working on a project of recording the complete works of Scott Joplin.
