Preview of Gentry's Master's Recital, "According to Eve"
Description
On Sunday March 2nd at 3 pm, Katy Gentry '05, soprano, will give a
preview of her Master’s Recital "According to Eve" in Roberts Hall,
Marshall Auditorium. She will be joined by pianist, Bonnie Wagner, and
cellist, Christine Mello. Her program “According to Eve” is a song
recital exploring feminism through the story of Eve. It will feature
Jake Heggie's provocative "Eve-songs", Gabriel Faure's "La Chanson
d'Eve", Fanny Mendelssohn's lieder, Henry Purcell' "The Blessed
Virgin's Expostulation", Ricky Ian Gordon's setting of Emily
Dickinson's poem "Will there really be a morning?" and Andre Previn's
songs with cello with texts by Toni Morrison.
Katy Gentry graduated from Haverford College in 2005 with a degree in
Music and performed with the Haverford/Bryn Mawr Chamber Singers and as
a soloist with the Haverford/Bryn Mawr Chorale. She is currently
studying at Temple University to get her Master's in Voice Performance.
