As an early celebration of Pi Day, the Student Activities Office and Math Department are hosting a Differentiation Bee and Pi Digit Recitation Contest on Saturday, February 8th from 2-4 pm in the Math Department Lounge!
What is a DIFFERENTIATION BEE (or Derivative Bee), you may ask? It’s sort of like a spelling bee, but instead of spelling words you take derivatives of tricky functions. The Bee is open to any Tri-Co Students, including current Calculus I students, and you are encouraged to form teams of up to four people—including up to one math major per team!
Spectators and Pie eaters are welcome, as well.
There will be Celebrity Faculty Judges, as well as pies, cider, and hot chocolate!!!
Prizes for the Pi Digit Recitation Competition include gift certificates for (Pizza) Pies, and the First and Second place teams in the Bee will win Chipotle Gift Cards.
