Based on a true story, the play "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" by Celeste Rapanti honors the art, poetry, and memory of all the children who passed through Terezin concentration camp. This event is free and open to the public.
After a successful inaugural year, touring more than 40 venues, Wolf PAC now embarks on its second tour of The Butterfly Project. With a cast of young actors ranging from 10 – 18 years of age, our production of the Celeste Raspanti play I Never Saw Another Butterfly gives witness to the unspeakable fate of the children of Terezin Concentration Camp.
More than 15,000 children passed through Terezin and less than 100 survived. Art and poetry inform this production, confirming the power of creativity to nourish and feed the soul during the darkest of times.
Following each performance, audience members engage in a “talk back” session with the young actors. Questions about the history of Terezin, as well as the actors’ own feelings about being in this production, deepen the audience-actor bond created during the performance. Universal lessons of survival and resilience arise in these conversations.
Sponsored by The Center for Peace and Global Citizenship, the Haverford Jewish Student Union, the Student Activities Office, and Collection Committee.
