"After the Leaves are Gone"
Description
A world of beauty still exists in the landscape after the leaves are gone. Come walk with Haverford College Arboretum Director Bill Astifan for a look into this winter world through the artistic eye of a landscape architect.
The arrangement of the landscape can be broken into light, texture, placement of plants, size of plants and even color. A closer look at plants reveals basic elements of structure, bark and buds that all add to the experience. Winter landscapes become personal because of the feelings they evoke, Bill says.
The hour-long walk begins at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Whitehead Campus Center. Dress for the weather.
