Description
The Poetry of John Rybicki
Reading & Workshop at Haveford College
December 6th & 7th, 2012
Join the Hurford Center’s Poetry Reading Group for a night with poet John Rybicki! John’s latest book of poems When All the World Is Old (2012) crosses and recrosses old grief and memory with the thread of new days, as he charts his wife’s long struggle with cancer. His writing exhibits everywhere an uncanny tenderness.
John is the author of two other collections of poetry: Traveling at High Speeds (1996) and We Bed Down into Water (2008). His poems have appeared in The Best American Poetry 2008, Poetry, Paris Review, Field and Alaska Quarterly Review

From: “Why Everything is a Poem”
Can I learn to love the ashes of this world,
turn my palms to the sky like the first snow
is sifting down? Can I catch my love on my tongue
after she is gone, close my eyes while my own wife
dissolves into me?
