HCA 50, first floor
Un-programmed worship in the manner of Friends sponsored by the students of Quaker House.
Description
Open Worship in the manner of Friends is a unique experience not duplicated elsewhere in the world of religious or spiritual practice.
A bit like meditation, but something different.
Both mystical and prophetic. Solitary. Internal. But deeply communal. Never quite the same any two times.
Here is a link to an essay by former Haverford professor, Douglas Steere, posted on the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting website: http://archive.pym.org/pm/comments-3698.php
It is an experience. Enter in silence. Allow the body to still. Do not strain to stop all thought, but let thoughts pass by and slowly quiet. See if there is not a seed within, that when nurtured and attended to, might lead and guide you to a loving power that renews.
Friends at Quaker House gather for worship every First Day (Sunday), from noon - 12:45 am. They are located on the first floor of Haverford College Apartments, Apartment #50. Meeting for Worship is followed by announcements and then hospitality.
All students and members of the Haverford College community are most welcome.
