Description
The purpose of the microfinance study tour to Bangladesh is to develop a keen understanding of the challenges facing microfinance operations in a Southeast Asian economy. We will examine practices such as weekly meetings, product design, training, funding, etc., as they relate to such core issues as client protection, impact assessment, repayment, human resource development, etc.
This tour is open to students with a firm grounding in microfinance, and builds on the knowledge of the sector gained through curricular and co-curricular activities. Completion of a course that covers microfinance, e.g., ECON206 or ECON374, is a prerequisite.
All Haverford students and Tri-Co students majoring at Haverford are eligible for funding through the CPGC/MI3. In addition, Bryn Mawr has funding for two additional students from its campus.
Applications can be found on the CPGC homepage under the "Announcements" section.
