QPPI, a workshop and lobby training day sponsored of the Friends Committee on National Legislation in Washington, DC. .http://fcnl.org/events/annual_meeting/Lobby2012/

Description
FCNL will be hosting the Quaker Public Policy Institute (QPPI) and Lobby Day on November 15-16. QPPI is an opportunity to shape the federal budget in a way that protects human needs programs and scales back military spending to responsible levels. Because of laws already on the books, Congress needs to find a way to cut $1.2 trillion from the national debt over the next 10 years. Unless a deal is reached by the end of the year, they will automatically make significant cuts across the board – including programs like Head Start, HIV prevention and testing, school improvement grants, job training for veterans, and federal work study. Congress will only be in session for a few days between now and December, so QPPI represents one of the last chances constituents from across the country will have to make sure that the budget reflects their priorities.
Day 2, Friday, November 16, includes lobby visits to your local Senators and Congressmen. The two-day event ends at 2pm on Friday.
The workshop and lobby day will be November 15-16 in Washington, DC and costs $25 for students ($50 for everyone else). It includes a day of lobby training and issue briefings, and a day of lobby visits on the Hill. Meals will be provided! More info at fcnl.org/qppi.
Funding for the costs and transportation may be available through the Quaker Affairs Office.
