Description
We are hosting a free public observing session in Strawbridge Observatory from 8:30 pm - 9:45 pm (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome; no RSVP needed.
Independent of weather, we are also hosting two, free portable planetarium shows to be presented on campus in Ryan Gym by Stars on the Move. The first show (7:40-8:20PM) is suitable for kids ages 5 - 9 years old and their parents. The later show (8:30-9:10PM) is geared towards ages 10 years and older. Space is limited for these shows and RSVPs are first come, first served. Please RSVP online. Each member of your group must submit a separate RSVP and sign-up will be closed once the event is full. PRESENTER BIO
Stars on the Move is a portable planetarium service owned and operated by Denise Vacca. Denise has over 15 years experience in astronomy education. As producer of the Fels Planetarium at the Franklin Institute Science Museum, Denise has worked with schools, educators and public audiences. She has produced, presented and developed numerous astronomy shows, as well as special programs and activities for space-related events such as Astronomy Day, World Space Week, Parkway Night Out and the Philadelphia Science Festival. Denise opened her own planetarium in 2004 and continues to delight and educate thousands of children and adults with entertaining astronomy programs. She is an active member in the Rittenhouse Astronomical Society and continues to observe and appreciate the night sky.
