I Want You
A clown play that explores what we want and why we want it.
Conceived and directed by Charlotte Ford (CHICKEN, 2010 Bryn Mawr Performing Arts Series)
We are the stories we tell ourselves. What stories do we tell ourselves about sex?
Our desires can disturb us and run counter to our more “highly evolved” politically correct minds.
What makes you hot? Why?
What do you desire that you are ashamed of? Why do you desire it? Why are you ashamed?
How does culture influence our subterranean “animal” desires?
Bang! or I Want You is a collaboratively devised theatre piece that may or may not contain live animals, soccer mom fantasies, a public safety mini-car ballet, mascots, a headless chicken striptease, and an actual pizza delivery. Absurd, irreverent, and brave, Bang! or I Want You will involve theatrical clown training and will be collaboratively devised through improvisation.
Prior experience helpful but not necessary: theatrical clown, dance, improvisation, choreography, musical skills, ability to speak multiple languages.
Any and all students are encouraged to audition, regardless of prior experience.
Auditions will involve a short conversation with the director, Charlotte Ford, and some text work. There is no need to prepare anything. Students are welcome at either audition, at any time during posted hours. Please bring your schedule if you have it.
Auditions are Wednesday, January 18th from 5-9pm in the Goodhart Common Room and Thursday, January 19th from 6-9pm in Humanities Center Room 102.
If you have questions or cannot make the audition times, please contact Charlotte Ford at firstname.lastname@example.org .
If you are interested in being involved in technical aspects of the bang! or I Want You instead of performing, please contact the Technical Director, Rose Bochansky, at email@example.com .
Sponsored by the Theater Program of Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. Participation could get you class credit.
