The Sweet Sixteen
5 lanes. 1,920 players. 11 tournament rounds. One winner.
The tournament began on March 16th. After 7 rounds of play, 1,904 players will have been eliminated, leaving 16 finalists, the Sweet Sixteen. On Friday, April 20th the Sweet Sixteen will yield to the One. Only then will the title of the exhibition, And the Winner Is..., be complete.
Prizes will then be awarded: the Winner will choose 12 5th Round Pledges and then on the morning of April 21st will be whisked away to Greensboro, North Carolina for the day. There to be honored by artist Lee Walton and his coterie of graduate students: songs, tributes, celebratory meals, tours, comforts.
And the Winner Is... investigates competition, cooperation, and community through a series of artist residencies, curricular interventions, and a massive skee-ball tournament involving all members of the Haverford community: the faculty, students, staff, and visitors. The Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery will serve as the arena for the tournament, which begins March 16th and ends April 20th. Only at the end of the show will its title, And the Winner Is..., be complete.
