Public debriefing on “Humans, Desire, Society,” the Fall 2011 Transdivisional Seminar.

Description
Transdivisional Faculty Tea
Monday, December 5th 4:15pm - 5:15pm
Stokes 102
Just prior to the start of the semester, Indradeep Ghosh (Economics), Joshua Ramey (Writing Program), Peter Love (Physics), and Ben Le (Psychology) organized “Humans, Desire, Society,” a three-day transdivisional seminar sponsored by the Humanities Center, featuring a matching quartet of student participants from the junior and senior classes.
Spinning out of the Center’s 2010-11 Transdivisional Faculty Working Group, the seminar sought to place both faculty and students from all three academic divisions--natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities--in a space of ignorance and surprise, bringing their disciplinary training to bear on the common topic of “exchange” while recognizing mutual blind spots.
Please join participating faculty for an informal debriefing on the project, with the aim of brainstorming future seminars, as well as other avenues for transdivisional experiences and conversations at Haverford.
