Jane Addams Place is a comprehensive emergency homeless shelter in Philadelphia that houses up to 29 mothers with children. Many of these phenomenal women and children are survivors of poverty, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and drug and alcohol addictions. The programs at Jane Addams employ a sanctuary approach and focus on helping families to regain and maintain self-sufficiency and access permanent/transitional housing and employment.
Haverford House fellow, Karina Puttieva '11, is currently working on bringing a small group of Haverford students to the shelter once a month to do a resume-writing and interview prep workshop with the women of Jane Addams in order to help them re-enter the workforce.
An info session will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 6:30pm in the CPGC Cafe. Food and refreshments will be provided!
