Join the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship and Associate Professor of Physics, Stephon Alexander for a film screening and discussion with guest speaker, Dr. Shirin Haque.
Dr. Haque will show two of her documentaries, "Adventures in Discovery", and "All is Number".
Dr. Haque is an Astronomer and former head of the Physics Department at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad in the Caribbean. Science outreach has been a particular passion of hers and she regularly writes science features, has given numerous public lectures and is a qualified specialty speaker for international cruise lines. Her latest effort in science outreach has been as a film maker of Caribbean Science documentaries. “Adventures in Discovery” was released in 2008, “All is Number” in 2010 and “Losing Paradise” is on schedule for release in 2011. She is the recipient of local, regional and international teaching awards. Her areas of research are Cosmology and Astrobiology with projects being featured on BBC and Discovery Channel. She is presently pursuing studies in Psychology.
